Richard's PledgePage Three Peaks 24 hour challenge
The Three Peaks 24 hour Challenge
Three Peaks Challenge is the classic mountain challenge involving climbing the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales, respectively, in 24 hours. The event starts on Tuesday 13th June early morning at the foot of Ben Nevis in Scotland, moving on to Scafell Pike in the Lake District, and then finally on to Snowdon in North Wales. Im glad to say that this has been completed successfully........with 7 miniutes to spare!!! Please take a look at the photo page to see the fantsatic senery. The reason for trying to complete this challenge is to raise money for my Parish Church- St Peter de Merton with St Cuthbert in Bedford, my home town. We are a parish church in the Diocese of St Albans and part of the world-wide Anglican Communion - a member of Churches Together in Bedford and of Bedford Council of Faiths. Our church has been a place of prayer for more than one thousand years - a place where people continue to worship God, to grow in faith and to serve the local community. As well as providing a beautiful place to worship St Peter's also provides a friendly and supportive community for people of all ages. Many people of St Peter's are involved in the loacl community in different ways - in some cases through their daily employement, in other cases through voluntatry work of various kinds. As a church we are involved in a number of places in our parish. For example nursing homes, sheltered accommodation, community homes for people with physical & learning disabilities. The church is also involved in raising money for charities around the world to help the poor and the needy. As with so many churches today funds are short, this is a way to help the church raise money to continue its good work and support of the community. Thanks for your kind support - Richard |
